Default Slow tour stage yesterday

The stage yesterday was the slowest stage in nine years at 22.3 mph. If we break 5 hours at ULCER we will need to better that speed. We've got one month to get ready so ride long and fast everybody.

WHy do you think that happened? The slow stage that is? I have a personal theory which is related to efforts to clean up the peloton, but I am curious what you think. I thought it was very notriceable and hearkened back to days gone by.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm very curious to see how the climbing goes this year.

I believe part of it was the crash the day before but I think most of it is from cleaning up the riders. I've heard reports from guys that rode the tour in the late 80's and returned in the early to mid 90's and they couldn't believe the increase in speed.

These riders know that can't go balls to wall for 2000 miles and survive while riding clean. They are going to be careful to pick their spots and save themselves when they can.
