BYU recieving and tight end depth
All of this can change based on missions, injuries, redshirts, position switches, transfers, new recruits etc. But based on what we know as of today with who is currently in the program this is how I think it will play out.

Muehlman (fresh, will redshirt) Holt (fresh) 2009- Collie (sr) Chambers (soph) Hafoka the younger (soph) Ashworth (jr) Jacobsen (soph.) I heard he came home early, but BYU wasnt expecting him back yet, so he may greyshirt or pay his own way this year. Thats why I dont have him counting until 2009.

Is this Rhen Brown? I seem to recall that HBArnett looked upon Rhen's talent-level extremely dimly.

Braden Brown. Not related to Rhen. However, Rhen's older brother is Terrance Brown who should be back from his mission and should be a 2 at OG this upcoming year. He started in 2005 as either a RS or GS Freshman. Usually one must give the less capable brother a scholarship when he is the older one, but BYU got the capable brother and then gave his younger brother a scholarship as well. Rhen is not an OL at all. He is a db/wr type of recruit and was reputed to be very fast and capable. In fact it was reported that various ACC and SEC schools were recruiting him as the family was from South Carolina. They moved to Utah and Utah high school football humbled him and he became quite inconsequential. One of those few situations where offering so early was not such a good thing.

shouldn't every TE be redshirting as long as we have the big 3? Seems like a waste to even have all those 3 guys together, let alone underclassmen burning time sitting behind them.

I heard although while Raw....that Friel is the most athletically gifted of the TE's in the program right now....and that Muehlman may very well be the team deep snapper when he returns. A position that his brother as a walk-on competed for last season.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Devin Mahina or Braden Brown eventually switched to DE at one point. Maybe both. Also Spanish Fork star Richard Wilson.....who will be one of BYU's next verbals for the 09' Class can also play TE as well.
