First Bet
I made my first football wager of the year. Sportsbook.com has a "Games of the year" section. I took Texas Tech -8 at Nevada on September 6th. The line opened at -7, but I sat on it for a couple of days and lost a point. The spread was so low that I felt the need to research it. I thought for sure the Tech's whole starting line up must have been suspended for the spread to be so low.
Other games of interest: UCLA +9 at BYU, BYU +1 at TCU, BYU +2.5 at Utah, and Ohio St. +5.5 at USC Last edited by BlueHair; 07-30-2008 at 07:07 PM. |

I never understand why people make wagers this early. Traditionally, the Week 2 Ap Poll has the most movement of the entire season, because so many of the initial predictions of the good, the better, and the best turn out to be so far off. Year after year.

Because I am a junky. Besides that, I generally do better in the early weeks and late weeks of the season than I do in the middle. Last year being the exception. I took UCLA big over Utah and had a hard time digging out of that hole.

I'm pretty sure if it wasn't an SEC school with Lou Holtz as head coach, there would've been an NCAA and/or federal investigation into that one. |
