I remember seeing that baseball card for the first time. It freaked me out.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Likewise. And when I attended a game at the 'Stick back in the '60's, Jesus Alou came up to bat at a key juncture. Fans were cheering him on, using the correct Spanish pronunciation of his name, "Hay-SOOS!" "Hay-SOOS!" But then a beer-sodden fan directly behind me stood and yelled "Come on JEEEEEE-sus!!!!" Few things have ever seemed so blasphemous and funny at the same time.

I understand Jesus went on to become a great batting coach.
