Default Rocky was saying I wasn't willing to tune out BYU bball

I seriously don't think I have any interest in seeing BYU at TCU. I think I will pass. Not worth the drive, and not a team that I care to get behind.

Kick Tavernari off before then, and maybe I go, out of a sense of duty.

Since you're so principle laden...don't watch another game and maybe you've earned the right to troll about the issue.

I like BYU hoops but I am losing interest as well. I blame the rise in the football program. I am gratefull the hoops program was marginally competitive during the down years of Crowton. 2004-2005 should never be endured again.

I like BYU hoops but not near as much as football. That abortion in the Thomas & Mack had me no longer discouraged but disbelieving how a team that performed so admirably earlier could lay the biggest maybe ever.

Here's why I say that.

There have been bigger losses by lesser BYU teams but never has a team that is marginally competent as this one can be lose to a team of marginal competence such as UNLV. And lose as if it were completely disinterested.

It is easy to lose interest when the team doesn't care. That contrasts with the frustration of the almosts in 2003 and 2004 when you see a kid like Jake Schoff just laying it all on the line. He cared like no other. He was not as physically gifted as some, perhaps many and he was certainly not nearly as physically attractive as perhaps the top 75% of human males, but he left it all on the court and that just kind of grows on you. As a fan you want so hard for kids like that to have success. I like Cummard, but nobody else really captures ones passion on the hoop team.

Jake was probably my favorite player of the past decade for the reasons you cite; when he rolled out onto the floor you knew you were going to see some serious hustle and some entertaining (if not always flawless) basketball. During the UNLV game, there was a loose ball when Plaisted and a guard both hesitated before making an effort to go for it. Shoff would not have hesitated. I wish he were around.

In his honor, our Word of the Day: Steatopygian.

I would think "tubby" would be a better word in his honor.
