Default The Hobbit

New Line Studios just announced that Peter Jackson won't be directing the prequel "The Hobbit", but instead that they are pursuing a new director for the movie. this dissapoints me a little, as I thought Jackson did a great job on the LOTR series.

I hope they don't screw it up, as it could make for a very good movie.

Caught a piece about this on NPR last night. Basically Jackson and New Line are still fighting about money from the LOTR series. Jackson refuses to make the Hobbit until those issues are settled. New Line wants the movie made now, and have decided they won't wait for Jackson.

Yes, why wait for the director to try to make a better movie. You geeks are going to see it even if it is directed by Michael Bay.

But I LOVE The Hobbit. I think I might even like it better than the trilogy.

I hope they get a decent cast.
The dude from Willow would be good for the Hobbit. They wouldn't even have to use any camera tricks.

He has so much experience to draw from. He's the logical choice.

If not him, how about the guy from Little People Big World?

Or I suppose you could use Mini-me, but he's got that evil connotation, and we can't have that. Hobbits are not evil.
Webster? Brilliant!

In the animated film, the Hobbit was white.

I think an evil Hobbit would be fun - a Tony Soprano kind of guy. After all, movies rarely follow the book. It's all about "entertainment".

It just occurred to me who would be perfect for the Hobbit:

Jack Nicholson. The guy can play just about any part you give him.

Of course, I understand Michael Richards needs work.....

Well, there's also the problem that "the hobbit" is in the first LOTR fim, and he was white there. So it'd be hard to explain how Bilbo sort of mutated between the prequel and the first of the trilogy, but it could work.

Jack Nicholson?
I was thinking Russell Crowe.

Don Knotts would have been a great Hobbit.
