Here's an idea; better than BCS?
Let's rank football teams like they rank the law schools. First, stop playing games. Then various criteria for determinging rankings and NC would include, how highly the magazines rated the incoming freshmen, the reputations of schools among coaches and sports writers, quality of stadium and physical plant, size of weight rooms, etc., coaches' past records, coaches' heroics as players, how many past championships and Heismans a school has, and data for the incoming freshmen like the 40, bench press, etc. No games need be played unless the players compete in intramural leagues that have no real world impact or effect on the rankings.
How about it, 3D, let's make the system you favor really pure.

Either way, the same teams, like the same law schools, would continue to be on top. And rightfully so.
