Default I hate "Love the Sinner"

It should be "Love people."

Everyone is a sinner. Love everyone.

Who is to say a guy's attraction to bungholes (a word I was suspended for using on CB) is worse than your sin of pride, or any other number of sins?

As if gays are a special category of people that takes A LOT of effort and work to love.

Live and let live. And if possible, stay away from the bunghole.

Yes. Love the sinner hate the sin is crap. It's code for "it's really hard to love you".

Our works/worthiness focus and ranking of how serious various sins are gets us into a lot of perdicaments.

The primary difference being that I don't insist that I can't be a happy, whole person without my pride, and I don't call you a bigot for telling me I'd be better off without it.

Other than that, I agree that it is silly in most cases to try to place sins on a scale. What is the point.

I find that the people who repeat the saying the most tend to be the ones whose words and actions show they only mean the "hate the sin" part.

That reminds me that someone once said to me that people who are brutally honest enjoy the brutality much more than the honesty.

I agree with you; we should hate the sinner and the sin.

It all gets too complicated for me. I think the best policy is just to hate everybody, sinner or not.

Hate everybody, love nobody except thyself.

At mutual today, one of my priests said:

"If you hate all races equally, you aren't a racist."

He has a point, I guess.

I used to say that when I was a kid. "I'm not a bigot, I hate everybody."
