Default That the killer is Asian

Korean, to be precise...

In Japan, at some point in the not too distant past, if someone had committed a crime like this, the perpetrator's entire family would have committed suicide.

Any parent would feel terrific grief and shame. But I think Asian parents would feel it especially.

May our own children make us proud, we hope. Or at least not make us think about killing ourselves.

This was my thought was well. The parents are apparently first generation immigrants and from a culture where shame actually means something. Moreover, I would be willing to bet there have been no shortage of death threats etc. These people, in the long run, may suffer more than anyone.

Looks like my prediction of a severe reaction was correct:

If we read into this, these were plucky immigrants, own a dry cleaning establishment, sent their daughter to Princeton, and then their son to Virginia Tech.

If one is going to pray for the victims, wouldn't hurt to include them.

Not according to a bunch of posters on cougarboard. THey think it is silly that the korean community is asking for people to not take out their anger on them. They don't believe that there will be any problem for them. That is laughable to me.

Its sad to say that this family will have some ugly things said to them and about them by those that have no idea. I feel for his family.

Some folks actually believe that the Korean community will not face repercussions because of this? How stupid are those that believe it?

They ought to ask the Korean community about what happened when the cops who beat Rodney King were acquitted.

Not stupid... just naive. I think people in utah, especially in the LDS community really want to believe racism doesn't exist anymore. If they aren't racist and their neighbors aren't racist, then racism must be dying out....
