Lest people question where I stand
and given my natural bombastic nature, I can understand why,
Despite all of the oddities and faults of our LDS culture, I cannot think of another culture I'd rather be associated with. Not wanting to deride the fine cultures of the past and present, but the other cultures including those generated by other religions are just that for me, other. If I visit them intellectually, I gladly borrow what I like and leave the remainder there. Other countries have diverse culinary contributions, diverse genetic make ups and interesting customs developed for reasons long forgotten. For better or worse, this culture is the one I've cast my lot with, and I will see it through. It will shape my future together with the mishmash of other stuff I collect and integrate. We're fortunate to live in our current circumstance, no matter what the challenges may be. To paraphrase an axiom, this may be the best of imperfect cultures for me.
