There's an article in this week's New Yorker about cycling activists in NYC.

Great article. NYC is an intense place. Where I am at there seems ot be a little more comraderie between the various cycling sub-groups, alhtough maybe that would disappear if there was some confilct between.

I didn't read the entire article. But why did it mention the dude was born as a Mormon, and in the next paragraph they mention him drinking a beer?

Was there any purpose in mentioning Mormonism, for those of you who read the entire article?

Sure. Everyone knows Mormons don't ride bikes. Plus, they needed another column inch to fill from the original article.
