Big East to announce West and East divisions this week?
http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=531591
Not vouching for validity but it apparently retains the remainder of the sports in the WCC, allows for flexibility with scheduling and networks while providing access to the BCS. We could win that conference some times.

BYU is in? This is the first I've heard of it. Congratulations.
Based on this year's performances, all of those opponents look beatable except Houston and Boise. A potential 7-2 conference record, despite better competition. |

BYU offered. Will it accept?
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...?s_cid=t_share If it does not, then BYU will likely be left out of all future discussions. I don't see why it won't accept the offer.

They want us badly!!!
Please give us: No Sunday play rebroadcast rights on BYUtv scheduling agreement for hoops, play at Georgetown every other year This is going to as good as "What MWC could have been" (w/Boise, TCU, Utah) + BCS access. Big East is academically superior to the Big XII also, with ND, Georgetown, and Rutgers. Staying in the WCC benefits Women's Soccer more, IMO.

What a bizarre play. The Big East, which will just become the Big Leftovers. As long as it keeps its AQ status (big "if" IMO), then I suppose it's fine. Whatever.
Hard to get excited about, honestly. Although it's fun to flip the finger at the Big 12. Hope they collapse.

I too am very meh vs. unsettled about a move to the Big East.
At the same time, I am not convinced that independence is going to be all that great. Each season will be punctuated by these questions: 1. Will we go undefeated and challenge for an underdog BCS bid? Usually answered in games 1-3 with at least one loss. 2. Will we be bowl eligible? We will lose about half our games against the good teams, and win the games against the really bad teams, leaving us year in and year out in the bowl we have arranged for. With absolutely no drama at the end of the season, unless we truly suck and bowl eligibility is not assured until the very end. There's something to be said about trying to win a conference championship. I would very much hope that non-conf home-and-home basketball games with good Big East teams would be part of the deal, as mentioned above. That might get me turned on a little bit. BYU basketball become exclusively west coast centric is going to be a little boring. |
