Default The solution to the "Happy Holidays" dilemma

The dilemma is that Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate any holidays and consider them an affront to Jehovah. So in saying Happy Holidays you are possibly offending them, just as "Merry Christmas" might offend a Jew or a Christopher Hitchens.

I've come up with it: the greeting we will eventually be subject to. "Happy Time Off."

Of course, not everyone gets time off, so only use it with people who get leave (whether paid or not).

It's a good start, I think.

If it offends Hitchens, it should be encouraged.

I really think we will all be moving back toward a "Merry Christmas" mentality. Primarily because it's becoming a secularized holiday. We just have to get a few of those baby Jesus symbols forced out, and we'll be well on our way.

Of course, you may still have that Jehovah's Witness problem, since they are opposed to celebrating any holidays. . . so happy time off may be best for them.

"To those of that you celebrate Christmas, I say Merry Christmas. To those of you that do not celebrate Christmas, but celebrate another holiday, I say Happy Holidays. To those of you that do not celebrate holidays as a matter of conscience, I say Happy Time Off. To those of you who prefer not to be happy, I say Good Luck. To those of you unhappy with rotten luck, I say Ain't Life Shitty."

I think that pretty much covers it.

I'm sure that greeting card would sell big.
