Default What would you call the current BYU offense?

Anae came with the apparent intention to use the Texas Tech Leach-inspired spread.

He's really gone away from those super-wide OL stances, and now runs essentially a variation of the West Coast offense. Yeah, we get in spread formations, and yeah we run from the pro set at times, but if I had to boil down that mish-mash, I see essentially we are a WCO.

Successful, and borderline unstopable.

We still use the wide splits on occasion. But in essence it is the WCO with more power running.

It's tough to not be a power running team when you feature two-backs who are pushing 240 and can really carry the rock. Props to Anae for tailoring his offense to fit his personnel. I wouldn't be surprised if we move to more of a spread/WCO offense once Unga leaves in 2.5 more years. Man, I REALLY like the sound of that.

I agree. They all go out together.

I think BYU has a huge rebuilding year in 2010.

I think recruiting indicates more big Poly backs in the pipeline. I think that BYU should be able to continue to find more big type of backs to keep this type of system in place. Pouhaha, Teo, Heimuli and the other Poly kid from Northridge will all be in excess of 230 lbs by the time they are sophmores or juniors.
