A CSC rider won the first stage with Fast Freddy Rodriguez 4 seconds back. Should be a good race. Overall I think the quality of the teams are not quite as good as the Tour de California (although this is more of an impression than a careful analysis) but the teams will all be in better shape, especially those European boys looking to the Giro in May.

Danielson appears to have finished in a very safe spot toward the front of the peleton.

What do you think are his chances of defending his title?

Glancing at the complete results, are any of the big horses in the race this year? Aside from Eki, Papovych, fast Freddy and a couple other decent riders, it seems like most teams left the big boys on the other side of the ocean again.

Did I miss anyone.

Not sure about Danielson. Popovych winning may change things a little for the team. Can Popo TT well enough to win it? COuld be that a big win here will go along way to cementing the win overall. It iwll be inersting to watch.
