Thought experiment: IFF
you had conclusive proof that Christ was not the Son of God, but an ordinary man spreading a good word.
In light of the potential harm, would you still write or publish the work that would destroy the faith of more than a billion persons?

Impossible scenario. Why not just say you had conclusive proof God doesn't exist?

I would very gradually leak enough information to eliminate fanaticism (e.g. enough to make Tex cry) without killing all hope and faith on earth.

I should have avoided this concept. I'm not asking about the probability or possibility of such scenario. Take that out of the equation or don't play along.

This is a cool idea. What if we added that maybe he was married and had a surviving family line whose identities have been protected by a secret society for a couple thousand years? That could be a cool book.
