Default Would graduated income tithing be better

than a flat 10% tithing?

10% is much harder for poor people than for rich people.

Or perhaps we could tithe based on "consumption." The "fair tithe." The more you attend church and the temple, the more you have to pay.

Being in a very poor branch, it would behoove the very poor to stop buying big screen TVs with their remaning 90%. I think a flat 10% is just fine. What's wrong with a trial of your faith?

I used to tithe when we were dirt poor out of college and we survived.

How about a limit, like with Social Security taxes?

We already have a graduated tithe. It's called the law of consecration, and there's no rule that says you can't personally live the law right now.

So donate as much as you can afford. 10% is just a baseline.

When I read threads like this I sometimes get the feeling that some of you think we get to have some input on these things.

I think I should only have to pay 8% since I didn't attend BYU.
