Default Bright, silver linings

The bizarre coalition that propelled Prop. 8 has Mormons' heads exploding (and mine, to be honest)

The bizarre, ultimately untenable coalition that propelled Prop. 8 confirms that a stake has truly been driven through the heart of the social conservative movement

Death penalty more likely to be ruled cuel and unusual punishment in the next eight years

Last time something like this happened was 1976; we all know what happened in 1980

Was 1980 all about the circumstances leading up to it or was it Ronald Reagan's cult of personality?

I think the circumstances are similar but we shall see if another Phoenix rises up from the ashes to restore the Party of Lincoln. I think Obama is out of office in 4 years regardless but will there be a man or woman to lead us to the promised land? It is going to take more than circumstances.

I am sure the Lord will bless California for the righteous choices of her citizens.

Jindal is a smart guy, but the article he wrote below will make a lot of people very uncomfortable.

Why? The first few paragraphs don't say much and you have to purchase the rest of the article to read it.

I see nothing uncomfortable about what I read. Is the rest of it a bit more steamy?

I guess he participated in an exorcism as an undergrad, but then who hasn't?
To me that shows a certain take-charge, can-do attitude. A friend is possessed by a demon and there's no priest handy? Well that just means there's a job to do so roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Cali's is the typical liberal response to someone who has actually done something in their life, to someone who has achieved something.

How cool would it be to have a President who can cast out demons?

It talks about his experience performing an exorcism. A bit odd to see something like that in print.

He has also said he practices voodoo.

Part 1 the evangelicals might be cool with. They won't care for Part 2. Look at what they did to Romney, and he is only Mormon.

He performed an exorcism?

I guess if folks are all about secularism and have no belief in God, they might find it disturbing that someone would engage in that activity.

And I'm with landpoke. A guy who can put "casting out demons" on his resume is pretty cool. But can he shoot a wolf from 1500 meters?
