Default Why does the Fairness Doctrine only apply

to radio?

Why not newspapers or television?

Exactly why it will never be upheld in court.

Fairness doctrine applies to FCC regulated media, ie, broadcast radio & TV

Did you miss the question about TV and newspapers? As a librarian, you should be smarter than that.

The fairness doctrine is pretty orwellian sounding to me. Chuck Schumer's argument is that we regulate porn so we should regulate political speech. Moron. Can one of you free speech loving liberals give me a better argument?

One of the reasons I am a liberal is because I specifically DON'T like things like the fairness doctrine. If the Democratic party takes this on as an issue (as opposed to a couple of blowhards blowing hard), I will be very disappointed in them, and it could certainly affect my future votes.

Having said that, I don't expect much to happen. You never know, though. When you own much of the government, as the Dems will after this election, you tend to think you can get away with anything. This is one reason I voted Republican for congress.

This alleged Fairness Doctrine is silly. It's not about radio stations limiting what the left has to say. It's about ratings and generating revenue.

If the left would put something on the air that people wanted to listen to, there would be more of the "balance" that Schumer wants. They only have themselves to blame for producing product to which not enough want to listen.
