In today's press conference TSM spoke of the importance of having a member of the FP who was not born and raised in Utah, but rather had an international outreach.

Note that he didn't up and say that in his prepared comments, but rather it was brought up twice in response to media questions.

Much has been said about how much David O. McKay and Spencer W. Kimball wanted the priesthood to be extended to all worthy males, and they petitioned the Lord to allow it to happen. Along those lines, I can see TSM petitioning the Lord to call more foreigners to the Q12.

I got slammed for bringing this up on CB today but I agree wholeheartedly. The Lord and his Prophet sent a very clear message by choosing Uchtdorf IMO. Utah Mormons beware ... be prepared to ride off into the sunset!

Your Utah schtick is getting pretty ridiculous. Even the most dense of the CB crowd is seeing through it.

But it's really, really funny. You see, Cougarboard has a lot of Mormons from Utah, which FMCoug has astutely noticed. So he makes these wry observations about Utah, often comparing Utah's problems with Texas' strengths (he currently lives in Texas). The very fact that these people dispute FMCoug's well crafted posts serves to demonstrate how narrow-minded and provincial Utah Mormons really are. It's just hilarious.

Do you people really expect a non-white apostle in the next few years? I guess the best chance is someone from Latin America, but are there any Latin Americans in the pipeline? Who would you expect it to be?

I think we're still at least one prophet away from that, perhaps two.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

I wouldn't be surprised and I'd love to see it happen. How great will be the day when we have a conference talk translated into English.
