Unwanted newborns drop box
And in the world of unbelievable things conceptualized by mankind, I give you, the unwanted newborn drop off box.
Apparently, a preschooler was placed in the box by his father on its first day in operation. I suppose it is better than a dumpster...but still, what the...? http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapc....ap/index.html

Can teenagers fit in the box?
But seriously, any child whose parents drop him off, that child is better off in a different family. |

When I heard about the boy, the first thing I thought was, I'll take him. I could not imagine abadoning any child, but a three year old is just an adorable lot.

We had an elderly single female neighbor that Farrah was friends with. She was very happy for us when our son was born. She said, "It's a wonderful thing when a child is born to parents who love him."
She said this more than once. And I always had the impression that there was personal sadness behind these words. The sad truth is that there are many children born into the world who are unloved and unwanted. There are tens of thousands (?) of children in the United States who languish in foster care, going from home to home. Really, these are our drop boxes. We have absolutely zero room to criticize. |
