Other NGBs that could be displaced if the wrecking ball swings include boxing, badminton, taekwondo, weightlifting and judo, along with the USOC's administrative staff.
We have a National Governing Body for Badminton? Who knew?

I'm not sure what to think about the move. It would be great for Ogden and for the State of Utah, but I would be reluctant to move the headquarters away from Colo Springs. I think there is a definite benefit to having the majority of the Olympic sports headquarters centralized to one location.

Apararently the Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting that the USOC is now considering moving cycling headquarters to Chicago. I just scanned the paper and couldn't find the article, but the guys at the RBR newsletter put it in yesterdays edition.

Here's what they stated for the reason:
Quote:
"It's a three-part equation: how to meet the training needs of our athletes, how to best support the administrative needs of some of our national governing bodies, and the USOC's own administrative needs."
Maybe its just my west coast/ intermountain bias, but I can't see how moving the cycling headquarters to the flatlands of the midwest best meets the training needs of the athletes. It makes no sense to me, other than for purely administrative purposes.
