It's often somewhat contrarian and condescending, "You think it's this way, but it's actually the way I am saying." He often makes statements that "You don't understand how [fill in blank] these athletes are." Talented, big, etc. "I'm a solid 6'2" and that guy dwarfed me." "The reason most people don't understand [Person x] is because they have never had any success in their life."

It's a kind of lightweight non-controversial contrarian viewpoint, told in a way that is arrogant, but openly so, as if it is part of the joke/entertainment.

Colin has the talent that most successful radio talk show guys have. He can fill up time in the air, saying absolutely nothing.

I've seen him very briefly on ESPN sports nation. TV show. Not good. He doesn't translate to TV.

Cowherd is the wine and cheese version of Jim Rome, in short. He essentially entertains himself with his harmless high-brow contrarian analysis. Nothing controversial, nothing happening...
I agree with your analysis, but not with your conclusion. He is awful to listen to- unless you want to spend 30 minutes hearing the same sentence rephrased in 418 different ways. His program adds absolutely nothing but noise to the airwaves.
