I guess you've never ridden one. They are a lot of fun for tooling around and getting a bit of exercise. No numbnuts, you sit upright like a city cruiser so you're watching the scenery go by rather than your front fork, yet because they are low they have low wind resistance. Even lower wind resistance with a fairing, if you'd like. Only problem is you cannot stand up to climb steep hills... only gear down.
The short wheel base models are definitely not for your grandma.

If you are into numb nuts, stiff neck, grueling workouts, no they are not for you. If you want 30-60 minute fun rides to keep your heart in condition, go for it, because if you have fun you will ride more. To each their own.
