BYU just got an official visit yesterday from a transfer from the U of Houston: LJ Rose, a 6-3 point guard. He was a big time recruit out of HS who had offers from schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, Baylor, Georgetown, among others. He's from Houston. Signed with Baylor. His dad played with Dave Rose at Houston.

He played one year for Baylor and then transferred to UH because his mom was in poor health and he wanted to give her a better chance to see his games. The NCAA allowed him to transfer without sitting out. Was good for Houston when he wasn't injured. Has had a recurring foot injury and got a medical redshirt for last season. He just graduated last week and announced he wants to transfer for his last year. He's eligible to play immediately.

I just heard an interview with a Houston sportswriter that played today on a Provo radio station. He talked about how he's a great floor leader and great person. He said he's a mature, unselfish player who helps others play better. If he can be healthy he thinks he can really help a team like BYU. He knows of no other visits he's chosen to take so far. BYU has a scholarship to give for this season. Sounds promising.
