I may be misremembering some of the details, but I believe a guy who owned a bagel business that supplied local businesses found that he made more money on a "name your own price" model than when he charged a fixed price. Or maybe it was something different. I have loaned out my copy of Freakonomics, so I can't check. Anyone feel free to correct me.
