I think Bronco was an average performer given his schedule and recruiting talent. And underperformed on recruiting historically.
Bronco won most of the games he was supposed to, and almost none of the games he was not supposed to.
His highwater mark was the win against Oklahoma. And the win against TCU with Beck (I was at that game). Those games were a long time ago.
And Bronco did poorly in rivalry games, which is unforgivable.

Bronco's main problem has been recruiting. We used to have 20-25 former players in the NFL at all times. Now we're lucky to have half a dozen. The real problem for BYU is that there are still lots of LDS guys in the NFL. But very few of them are choosing BYU anymore. That's on Bronco. The BCS/P5 takeover of college football has something to do with it, but not all.
