Brust just a symptom. Without Winder and Harrison at the 1 and 2, BYU is very susceptible to dribble penetration. Even with Winder at the point, it was not pretty defensively. But then again, he was playing one of the best college PGs in the country.

When you give up penetration, help comes, and that's all she wrote against a team that passes well. There were zone rotation problems as well. But at some point, you have to make a decision that you don't leave the guy who is shooting lights out.

I play a lot of pickup ball. One of the guys who plays was an invited walk-on at BYU. He's a VERY good shooter. He's 5'9" and 160lb, with a small frame, he had to do SOMETHING well to be on the team. And that's shooting. I NEVER leave him to help. Even if it means an open layup. Because if it's an open 3, that's a 3 point layup for him.

The game is very simple. Take away the things that people do well, and make them do things that they don't do well. Brust should have had a man in his pocket, and been forced to put the ball on the floor, and the zone should have always cheated to him. Embarrassing.
