I have rented several of your recommendations. Here are my thoughts on a few:
1) Step into Liquid
Very good. My kids loved it.
2) Dogtown and Z Boys
Fascinating story. But a bit too stylistic and narcissistic for my taste.
3) The Last Waltz
Good, but only if you are into classic rock.
4) Wordplay
This one sucked me in. Enjoyable.
5) Sherman's March
Definitely the most eclectic pick. I kept thinking "Why in the hell do I keep watching this?" but I couldn't help but watch the whole thing. Voyeuristic. The part with the LDS woman was funny.
6) God Grew Tired of Us
This is my favorite of the bunch so far. Highly recommended.
