Yes I do remember that, now that you remind me, but I have always thought that was confusing too. For example, Abinadi says that God himself shall save his people and that because he dwells in the flesh he shall be called the Son (as opposed to just saying, he is called the Son because he is the Son of the Father). I also don't believe he says that Jesus is Jehovah.

Here is Millet on the subject and it gives a thorough treatment of why Jesus is also the Father: http://www.lightplanet.com/mormons/b...ather_son.html

I just find the 3rd Nephi usage perplexing. I too am a father and a son. A son to my parents and a father to my children. But I wouldn't ever rehearse something I told one of my kids to someone else by saying "here is what father said to my daughter." Why wouldn't Jesus just say, I'm going to tell you what I told Malachi. The plainest reading seems to be that he is telling Nephi what His father told Malachi. Maybe this is just a translation error but it seems odd to me.

Also Joseph seems to be referencing two being. One is Jehovah and one is Jesus.

EDIT: Here is the authority, BTW: http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/110/3#3, I did find it.
