In a group, if you ride a tri, you just need to plan harder or not go down into the tri bars, which defeats the purpose of the bike.
I can ride better than most on the tri, but I myself was noticing the wobble next to my bud, who didn't complain.
However, it's also not so fun to show up to your tri without ever having been on the tri bike. My wife in fact confiscated the road bike, informing, no road until tri is over.
