Its true under a couple of the assumptions: (1) the events (conference championships for the different sports) are independent (hard to imagine that this wouldn't be true), and (2) each team in the conference has the an equal chance of winning the conference for each of the respective sports (hard to imagine this one is true).
But, yes you computed the joint probability correctly given your 9:1 assumption.
