That was a bad hire from Day 1. He is a bad coach and a turd. Granger saved him for a bit but he never showed he could recruit much or win much. New Mexico, I am sure, did it now so that they could begin to talk with coaches in the business and try and get someone locked up before other schools come calling.
Not counting BYU (simply because BYU has a small pool of coaches to pick from)...I would say that New Mexico is the third or fourth most appealing job in the conference (behind Utah/UNLV and close to even with SDSU simply because they have a better history and more support than SDSU). Get a jump and get someone you want...we'll see what happens.
