Look at the number of championships and NCAA victories prior to 1990. Since that time Majerus took the Utes to amazing heights. I think Utah has a better tradition, but if they descend then they will probably look more like New Mexico. I think that they have a higher upside than New Mexico.
I don't consider it to be an insult to be compared to New Mexico, they have had a very solid program over the years.
