I'm struck by how he ended up becoming a Mormon. His second wife said that they had to choose on a religion. This after Beck was an insufferable alcoholic. They chose Mormonism.
Living in urban wards, I don't see much of this. Most converts are among the poor, uneducated and humble.

I like Beck. I like that he doesn't hide his religion on his show. I learned of his conversion when I happened across his bio on his website.
I agree that he isn't the typical convert.
