It depends. When the couple calls the baby in the womb by the chosen name I find that weird. But announcing that I think we're going to go with Joseph isn't that weird.
For example, a friend who is pregnant in her second trimester refers to her daughter by the name they have chosen. She also makes comments like, oh she loves pink and purple. It's very weird. It's also her first child.
