I disagree with you guys on this one. My son (now 12) and I have gone snow cave camping on a few occasions. We of course did not have to make the cave out of necessity and were able to bring all of the nice gear. If you have a nice sleeping mat to put between you and the snow, the night is actually quite tolerable. The last 2 times we went we vented the cave at the ceiling and lit a small candle placed on a shelf we put it. Amazing how much of a difference that made in the temp yet still didn't cause dripping.
Finally, we bring our chocolate lab who sleeps at our feet, (yeah, it's a big cave). I've never felt miserable during these campouts, but as mentioned we've always had the luxury of time, nice gear, and close proximity to our car.
