Mortenson was good in A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.
He's probably a good a choice as any.
Question is about the kid actor, and the rapport between the two.
The book is desultory. Will the movie be linear and view-friendly, or desultory and cryptic?
It's being directed by the guy who did "The Proposition". I didn't particularly like this film. Although I can see why someone might want to go to this director for this film. Hillcoat will need to do much, much better.
Perhaps the ideal director for this might be the combination of Jim Jarmusch and Peter Jackson.
