This whole issue is a bit of a red herring.
I know gay men who I'd absolutely trust with one of my sons in a scoutmaster role. Moral, decent, open, non-predatory.
On the other hand, one of the top executives of the Boy Scouts of America was caught with child porn on his computer.
I'd prefer somebody who is open & honest, with nothing to hide or be ashamed of, than one who hides in the organization, speaking one way but is a closet pedophile in private.
