Walmart is not a generous employer. But they pay 74% of the premium for health insurance. The national average for retail is 77%. That's not that big of a difference. If they can't afford it they can go on Medicaid.
It's true that unionized grocery stores pay much higher wages, but the difference is erased by higher grocery prices.
The widespread sexism of which you speak is illegal and if true Walmart should be sued. But there are Big 5 accounting firms and investment banks that make their workers work OT without pay. Americans work hard, and
Walmart + Clinton + Obama = work pays.
