Sorry Barbara
Barry Switzer is now one of the most hated men on Cougarboard. Some time ago he told ESPN radio personality Colin Cowherd that BYU cheated for 15 years by bugging the phone systems of the opposing team. Today Colin relayed this story and asserted it as fact.
This is troubling for many reasons, not the least of which is that it defames the character of Saint Lavell. This will ultimately be forgotten and BYU's stellar reputation for sportsmanship and NCAA compliance will remain unscathed, but Barry Switzer is ineligible for forgiviness. |

1. Switzer would think that and 2. That BYU fans react the way they do. (I thought you guys already hated him for Bo Diddley Tech?) I think Edwards was one of the class coaches of all time and don't believe something like that would happen. He didn't need to cheat like that; however, Switzer can't prove any of his claims, but can BYU fans prove it didn't happen? Too much out of nothing, IMO. |

IMO, Switzer is a jerk/clown. His Bo Doddley Tech rant in '84 (that I missed but heard about) was hilarious; his off field behavior when he was coach of the Cowboys was inexcusable (thinking he was exempt from carrying a gun onto a flight); these latest comments about BYU are just par for the course. |
Perhaps I've misunderstood Switzer's comments. I got the feeling that he was making claims that BYU bugged the phones of all opponents. Was he specific about Oklahoma only?
If so, I recant that Y fans can't prove anything. |

IMO, there's no reason to get any feathers ruffled, as Switzer shouldn't be taken seriously. It's fun to laugh at him; of course, laughing at him is the only option, as there is no reason to laugh with him. |
This really is hilarious
1. If he meant we bugged phones against him, we obviously never played him. 2. If he meant we bugged phones against our opponents during those years, then it's hilarious that Switzer is the detective that cracked open this case. |
