What happened to the GSA, Know Your Rights! thread?

We got back back from Utah, and I wanted to see what kind of insanity ensued after we left.

Must have been pretty dark and/or embarrassing for the entire thread to disappear.

hey that's right, I was interested in that thread as well. Where'd it go? Or was it re-categorized?

MikeWaters 08-15-2006 02:59 PM

I just checked. It was deleted by Archaea.

That is unfortunate. I thought Faith did some really nice work in that thread.

I can't exactly blame Archaea... considering some of the things he said.

When I said some embarrassing things, I deleted my OWN posts, and for that I was have been criticized ever since. What does it mean when you oblitarate the posts of OTHERS to cover up your own shame?

Wait a sec, you mean if someone doesn't like something they posted, they can delete the ENTIRE THREAD??

Seems a little weird to me. Sure, parts of that thread were a little heated and maybe people in retrospect were not happy with what had been said. But that was also in parts a good thread with some worthwhile dialogue, even if only to get one thinking about many sides of the issue.

Arch, any explanation?

From me, this one gets a shake of the head and a wag of the finger (for you Colbert watchers).

I don't get to use the moderator panel very often, so once in a while I want to use the options.

Mike cajoled me because I was behaving like a pitbull, a nickname some of my friends have given me, instead of a poodle.

So in order to render this place more like a poodle's pad, I deleted what had become a very pedantic posting thread.

We apparently have some thin-skinned persons, whose opinions need respect.

That's a little cryptic for me; are you able to elaborate further? If not, cool.

It has nothing to do with being thin-skinned. Faith spent more than an hour responding to your posts, and now her thoughtful work is gone.

Apologies for anybody who spent more than a nanosecond posting on the thread. As one can see from the lack of quality of my posts, little or no thought goes into them as it's more fun baiting a predictable response with an occasional nonpredictable response cropping out.

The right thing to do in a case like this is to say, "I'm sorry, I think my posts got out of line. I'll try to do better in the future." That is how you build civility and improve the quality and tone of the board. The wrong thing to do is to wipe out someone else's thread for getting a bit out of hand when you yourself are the one who is soley responsible for that.

Bring back the thread.
