BYU eeks out a win with Jimmer ill
 

and UNM loses at SDSU.

Wins against UNLV, UNM and SDSU and probably Utah will be a premium. Unfortunately the teams will lose their ranking at places where most teams lose, see Dayton and TTech and Cal.

the Utep game will be a challenge, especially if Jimmer and Emery are not full speed. Kudos to the team for pulling out a losable game last night.

And one of the heroes was Tavernari, your least favorite Coug. He has relegated himself to the bench, recognizing his bad play and is playing himself into a useful player. If last evening is indicative, BYU has a very flexible bench and may be able to withstand great defense.

BYU does not play good defense with its offensive team but if you put in the non-offensive team and it does okay. It will never be a defensive nightmare, but it might be able to play adequate defense.
