It has been added to his Wikipedia article, for what that's worth (not much, I know). I guess the source is rivals.com.

"A writer for GoPowerCat.com, the Kansas State Rivals.com affiliate, reported that multiple sources have told the website that Patterson has been hired as K-State's 34th head coach, replacing Ron Prince, who will leave after coaching the team's final game on November 22, 2008."
