Video Killed The Internet Star

A brief history of MTV:

1. It started out being very rad
2. It slowly grew to be less rad, right around the time they took "Remote Control" off the air.
3. It really sucked (aka, "The Carson Daily era")

until now......

MTV has been beta testing a relatively new website. Hasn't been officially launched, has no ads on it right now, sometimes it will go offline completely during the day. Has only been up for about 5 or so days. I heard about it by one of our clients that has helped on the media migration side.

The site is part of the mtv family of websites. Dedicted 100% to videos. In fact, the stated goal is to host every single video that MTV has ever aired....and have them all available in the next few months.

It is a glorious time-waster. So many old videos you can watch. Still, since they are still beta testing and uploading, there are limitations.....for example, you can watch "I Lost on Jeopardy" by Weird Al Yankovic, but you cannot yet watch "Our Love's in Jeopardy" by The Greg Kihn Band. You can watch "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley, but you cannot yet watch "Elvis is Everywhere," by Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper.

And before all of you run over there, I will tell you right now....for some awful reason, they have not yet uploaded "Rockit" by Herbie Hancock.

I would be interested in people sharing the name of the first video you will search if you go over there.

Mine was "Norman Bates" by Landscape. It was there!

Video killed the radio star.
Radiohead blamed it on the black star.
Pinocchio wished upon a star.
Cloris Leachman briefly danced with a star.

But nothing will ever kill the video star.

DDD, the name of the song by Greg Kihn's Band is "Jeopardy". Only one word.

Please don't make that mistake again.

Prodigy's "Smack my Bitch Up" ...............and it's not there.

I had heard they only showed it once or twice. I remember falling asleep on the couch one night watching The Real World or some such (I used to love The Real World) and waking up at 2 am to that video. I thought "what a horribly themed video this is" right up until the end. And then I realized it was quite possibly the greatest video ever.
