How private is facebook?

Assuming you only allow friends to have access to your facebook account, how private is it? Thoughts?

Depends on how many friends you give access to and whether or not you trust them to keep things private. Once you've posted pictures or info there's of course nothing to stop them from copying and sharing.

IMO, it's probably not very private if you have anyone on there that you don't really, really trust. I get friend requests all the time from people that I am not really even friends with. I don't put much on there that I wouldn't want the general public knowing about.

As an aside, does anybody else jettison "friends" who aren't really friends after a while? I feel guilty not adding someone who requests (often times an old ward member or some such) but I learned that when you take them off of your list they are not notified and so I've done it multiple times now. Sure, they'll figure it out eventually if they ever try and access your page but you can always blame it on facebook.

I used to deny people all the time. I wasn't friends with you in 2nd grade so why should we be friends now. I am very private. If it were up to me I'd make our blog private also. Gidget is very open. This is a regular conflict in our relationship.

Are you saying you won't be my face book friend?

You can adjust your privacy settings in different ways, but there is always this sinking suspicion that more is getting out there than you want to be out there.
