What is this world coming to where the poor and ill have no options?

It's not "coming to." It's been here for a while now.

And I'd offer that the poor and ill have more options now than they used to.

Have you not read any 19th century literature?

Can you imagine? Thinking that you're alone in the privacy of your home, free to change your own oil when the mood strikes. And yet all that time some fifty-eight year old lady's watching.

It's creepy and not just a little sexy at the same time.

Here's a little song to help you get along.
It will see you through when you're feeling blue.
And though it's not profound, when you're feeling down;
sing this little tune and you'll feel better soon.

You're not alone.
Even though right now you're on your own....

But how can this be, a socialist paradise such as Japan does not have homeless.

MikeWaters 05-30-2008 05:28 PM

I really love it when the homeless shame the rich and powerful.

In Dallas, there are/was a huge group of homeless that slept in the cold, on cardboard mats in a church parking lot, with the church's permission.

The rich were very upset, because it was an eyesore, not because they were concerned about the homeless of course.

A sentiment I can understand completely. Have you ever actually been near a homeless person? Their grooming leaves much to be desired.

It's safe to say that I have encountered the homeless up close and person much more than the avg. person on this board.

That doesn't necessarily make me more compassionate however.

Whenever I'm around the homeless I make sure and smoke a big cigar, generally a Cohiba or Davidoff. Helps mask the smell and make a generally unpleasant proposition a bit more bearable.
