This team not as good as last year
I'm not jumping off a ledge, but I've seen enough to make an evaluation.
This team is not as good as last year's. Now last year's team did improve through the course of the year. Keena adjusted to his role as a star and Ainge became settled at the point. This year's team could turn around and we see improvement, but I'm skeptical.
Tavernari is not a good basketball player right now. I'm in shock at his shot selection right now, even after he was benched for it, and it's been a major topic for over a month. He goes flying in the stands, cuts an eight inch gash in his leg, limps around, sits on the bench for 20 minutes getting cold, then comes back in the game. FIRST TIME HE TOUCHES THE BALL HE TAKES A FRICKIN' HURRIED THREE EARLY IN THE SHOT CLOCK WITH A HAND IN HIS FACE. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you to do that. Even after his life has been turned upside down the last month due to his shot selection. I only listened to the game last night, but it sounded like more of the same and he admitted himself he took some bad shots.
We lack good guard play. We lack a tough inside game with Plaisted carrying too much of a burden. We're not rebounding well against good teams. We're soft on defense inside and we're not defending the three well. This team could turn around but I'm not seeing it right now. This is a #40 team in the nation at best. Lucky to make the tourney and most likely an 11 or 12 seed and one in done. Damn that sucks after thinking we looked improved from last year (which was a good team) earlier in the year.
