Crazy stories from down South

As Mr. Calderón has put more pressure on them, the drug cartels have lashed back at the government. Gunmen assassinated three police commanders in Tijuana this week and killed four federal agents last week in the states of Tamaulipas and Michoacán.

Thousands of elite troops in battle gear stream toward border towns and snake through the streets in jeeps with .50-caliber machine guns mounted on top while fighter jets from the Mexican Navy fly reconnaissance missions overhead.

The federal authorities stepped up their campaign against armed drug gangs and police corruption, sending soldiers to shut down temporarily the local police departments in Nuevo Laredo, Río Bravo, Miguel Alemán, Valle Hermoso and Matamoros, all in Tamaulipas State, and seized the officers’ weapons to investigate whether any guns were linked to crimes

These type of events always make the news in San Diego, and they have become increasingly common. Locals have made alternate travel plans out of fear of the unrest. Or should I say, reporters found many interviewees willing to say so.

Looks like alot of this is happening along border towns across the Rio Grande. How much has spilled over to Texas? Glenn Beck on his radio show has talked about the murders, kidnappings, etc. happening in Laredo, TX. You hear little about it in the national press, what about local press down there?

I've seen it in the press.

Of course there are murders everywhere. My a recent covert in my ward was murdered by her estranged husband. Life is cheap, and frankly, if you are not an attractive caucasian young female, no one gives a damn if someone murders you.
