As we move towards 2010, many places on our Southern border are spinning towards the 1860s – 3:10 to Yuma and all that.

Street gangs and drug violence have replaced the communist guerrilla and death squad of the 80s and the austerity programs 90s as the major social concern in Mexico/Central America.

And this is what America will turn into if we keep allowing everyone and their dog to cross the southern border, no questions asked.

Well I'm headed south of the border this Friday for a week. I'm meeting the parents there, but I have a 2 hour layover in Mexico City that I'm not totally looking forward to. The tactic is to just not think about it. No sense in fretting over something that hasn't happened yet.

If you stay at the airport during the layover, you should be fine.

Not to mention that Mexico City <> Tijuana. By a LONG shot.
